Rider
2023
Oil paint on canvas
16” x 20” inches
In this painting I express my intersecting identities interacting with each other. A queer coded cowboy gets thrown off of a carabao-bull hybrid creature that comes from an abstracted reality.
The cowboy is wearing leather which is a staple in queer culture, with their gloved fist and red bandana alluding to fisting.
The beast is a mix between a carabao and bull. The carabao is the national animal of the Philippines and is a very dossal working animal. The bull is is popular to ride for rodeo competitions in Texas for it’s aggressive behavior.
Self Portrait
2019
Oil painting on canvas
18” X 24” Inches
A self portrait I made during Pride month. I celebrate my trans body and comfort in being myself by making my first portrait of my more authentic self. The rainbow aura and eagle on my forehead represents the beauty and strength of loving myself fully.
